Carta broadens Claude plugins for private capital firms

Carta has made its Plugins for Claude broadly available to customers, and the tools are now listed in Anthropic's official plugin directory.

The launch expands a product introduced earlier this year and follows adoption by more than 1,500 companies and firms, according to Carta. The plugins are designed for private capital workflows, including fund administration, cap table management, and dealflow analysis.

According to Carta, the software embeds task-specific processes into Claude rather than simply connecting the chatbot to underlying data. The system includes reference files for a fund's terminology and rules, scripts for reporting calculations, and controls that flag when a figure is an estimate rather than a number drawn from Carta's records.

Access follows the same user permissions and audit trail already in place on Carta. Customers do not need separate credentials, and data is not uploaded outside Carta.

Private capital firms have been testing the tools for fund accounting, reporting, and investor work. Carta said the software is aimed at users including founders, Chief Financial Officers, controllers, investor relations teams, and equity administrators who already work in spreadsheets, slide decks, and other office software.

Early users

Early adopters include Delta-v Capital, Tribe Capital Management, Vine Ventures, Kapor Capital, and Liquid2 Ventures. Carta pointed to examples from firms managing multiple funds and special purpose vehicles.

At Delta-v Capital, which manages 28 funds and USD $1.6 billion in assets under management, Chief Operating Officer Kyle Rogers said the plugin reduced the time needed for compliance work.

"One prompt pulls every data point," said Kyle Rogers, Chief Operating Officer of Delta-v Capital. "I can say definitively it's going to save us multiple days next year."

Tribe Capital Management, which Carta said manages nearly 100 fund structures and more than USD $2 billion in assets under management, also reported shorter reconciliation times.

"When the Carta Plugin for Claude worked, my initial reaction was: Wow, I can't believe this is finally here. It's like everything you've ever wanted in terms of cutting down on manual workflows and turnaround times," said Stuart Johnson, Fund Controller of Tribe Capital Management, Inc. "We've been able to cut down that manual, complicated web of reconciliation across four funds and 100 SPVs-from a week of doing it manually to a day."

Three plugins

Carta has grouped the offering into three products focused on investors, customer relationship management, and cap tables.

The Carta Investors Plugin is aimed at fund finance work. It can pull live cash actuals from Carta's general ledger into Excel, support budget-versus-actual reconciliation, generate annual general meeting presentations using fund performance and portfolio data, and run waterfall simulations inside spreadsheets through Claude, according to the company.

The Carta CRM Plugin is intended for investor relations and deal teams. Carta said it can query investor profiles and engagement histories, help users create outreach lists for fundraising, chart deal origination trends by geography or sector, and draft investor update emails based on commitment and interaction records.

The Carta Cap Table Plugin focuses on ownership and equity management. Users can pull cap table summaries and 409A records into board materials, generate 18 report types for export to Excel, and check for issues such as expiring valuations, low option pools, or SAFEs nearing maturity, according to Carta.

Broader push

The rollout shows how software providers serving private markets are trying to embed generative AI into routine administrative and reporting work rather than treating it as a separate assistant. In Carta's case, the emphasis is on linking AI outputs to permissioned internal records used by funds, companies, and legal teams.

Carta says it serves 55,000 companies, more than 1.8 million equity holders in over 160 countries, and 10,000 funds and SPVs representing USD $250 billion in assets under management.
