Zingtree has appointed Venkat Iyer as Chief Technology Officer as the customer experience AI company expands its product and engineering efforts.

Iyer will oversee engineering and product development and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Juan Jaysingh. His remit includes developing new agentic AI tools for complex products and regulated industries, alongside work on collaboration between human staff and AI systems.

His appointment adds to Zingtree's senior leadership team as it looks to broaden its platform for contact centres and other customer service operations. The company focuses on workflow and automation software for organisations handling complex customer interactions.

Before joining Zingtree, Iyer worked at Talkdesk, where he held several product and engineering leadership roles, most recently as Vice President of Products. He also held leadership positions at SAP and Oracle, and worked at Traform and Acme Ticketing.

Zingtree highlighted his experience in workflow design across fragmented systems, including sector-specific enterprise software, customer experience tools and workflow automation. That background aligns with its focus on organisations operating in regulated settings and managing detailed service processes.

Leadership hire

The appointment comes as companies across customer service software continue to invest in AI-based systems that can handle more tasks with less direct human input. In regulated sectors, however, suppliers face added scrutiny over reliability, governance and oversight when automating customer interactions.

Zingtree has positioned its product around those concerns, emphasising governed workflows and controls for both autonomous and human-led processes. Its customers include Corpay, Experian, 1st Central and United Health Group.

Jaysingh said the company wanted a technology leader with product and engineering experience in customer experience software and AI-led development.

"To achieve our vision of becoming the first agentic CX platform that empowers contact centers with the highest level of trust, governance, and control for both autonomous and human agents, it was critical that our new CTO not only deeply understood the CX landscape, but also had a strong combined product and engineering background leading AI-driven development cycles," said Juan Jaysingh, Chief Executive Officer of Zingtree. "Venkat clearly stood out in a number of ways. Having worked closely with him previously, we saw firsthand his ability to combine customer focus, product judgment, and technical leadership. We are thrilled to have him on board."

Product focus

Iyer will help drive Zingtree's roadmap as customer demand grows for AI systems that can operate within stricter controls. The company aims to develop tools that support automation while keeping decision-making within defined processes.

That approach reflects a wider shift in enterprise software, as suppliers try to move beyond basic AI assistants and build systems that can complete steps in a workflow. For vendors selling into regulated sectors, the commercial case often rests on whether those systems can be monitored, constrained and audited.

Iyer's background at larger software groups as well as smaller companies may help balance product development with operational scale. His previous roles span enterprise applications, customer experience software and startup environments.

He is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His focus will include connecting technical systems with business context and internal processes so that people and AI systems can work together in customer operations.

"Enterprises are adopting AI, but realizing its full value requires more than adding intelligence to individual applications. It requires connecting technology, business context and understanding, and trusted processes so that people and AI can work together effectively," said Iyer. "Zingtree has a strong foundation in helping organizations operationalize complex processes, and I'm excited to build on that with our customers, partners, and team to capitalize on this massive AI opportunity in complex CX."
