Nureva launches AI chat assistant for its audio systems

Nureva has launched Room Assistant in beta for its audio systems, adding AI chat to the Nureva Console platform.

The feature is aimed at IT teams managing Nureva devices across meeting rooms, classrooms, training spaces and divisible rooms.

Room Assistant uses natural language processing to let users ask product-related questions through a text chat interface in Nureva Console, Nureva's device management and monitoring platform. It draws on the company's knowledge base to provide answers based on existing support content.

Nureva is positioning the release as the first step in a broader plan to add AI-based room intelligence to its audio products. That plan goes beyond chat support, using room and device data to help teams manage collaboration spaces.

For IT and AV departments, the immediate goal is to cut the time spent searching documentation or interpreting dashboards and alerts. The assistant can also direct users to support when more help is needed.

Broader platform

The launch also signals a shift in how Nureva describes Console. The platform is moving beyond cloud-based device management and monitoring toward what the company calls an agent-based intelligent system for managing rooms.

Alongside the Nureva App, Console is used across the device life cycle, including deployment, setup, daily operation, remote management and support. The software is intended to help organisations maintain audio performance across a range of collaboration spaces.

The beta programme is available free of charge. Participants can register to test the feature and provide feedback for future development.

Nureva expects to add more functions over time, including voice interaction with Room Assistant, deeper room insights, optimisation tools and automated diagnostics. These features are intended to help identify issues, suggest next steps and support ongoing management of meeting and learning spaces.

Hybrid demand

The move comes as organisations manage larger estates of hybrid meeting rooms and classrooms, increasing pressure on IT teams to maintain systems across dispersed locations. Against that backdrop, suppliers have been adding more automation and guided support to management tools for administrators.

Nureva, a private company based in Calgary, sells audio systems for meeting rooms, classrooms and larger spaces. Its products use the company's Microphone Mist technology, designed to pick up voices throughout a room as people move around.

Commenting on the launch, Nancy Knowlton, Chief Executive Officer of Nureva, said: "IT and AV teams are under pressure to keep every collaboration space performing reliably, but traditional room-management tools often leave them to interpret data and search for answers on their own.

"Room Assistant is an important first step in bringing AI-powered room intelligence to Nureva Console, giving teams faster access to trusted knowledge today while laying the foundation for more intelligent, connected and automated experiences across Nureva Console, the Nureva App and our audio systems."

The beta gives IT teams another way to interact with device information without navigating multiple management screens. It also provides Nureva with an opportunity to gather feedback on how administrators use AI-assisted support in day-to-day operations.

Future updates are expected to expand the assistant's role beyond answering questions. Nureva says these capabilities will build on data collected from connected rooms and devices. The company plans to use the wider platform to support more automated approaches to room management.
