Coro & Keepit add backup to workspace security platform

Coro and Keepit have partnered to integrate data protection into the Coro workspace cybersecurity platform. The integration is in early access for Coro customers.

The deal adds Keepit's backup and recovery service for supported software-as-a-service applications to Coro's security platform, which is aimed at organisations with small IT and security teams. The companies are targeting customers that want security monitoring and data recovery in one system rather than across multiple products.

The move reflects a broader shift in cyber defence, with recovery becoming a more visible part of security planning as ransomware and data extortion incidents continue to disrupt business operations. For many mid-market companies and managed service providers, the question is not only whether they can stop an attack, but also whether they can restore data quickly afterwards.

Under the arrangement, Coro users will be able to access Keepit's backup product within the Coro environment. Keepit stores backup data separately from production data in what it describes as an air-gapped architecture, designed to reduce the risk that compromised live systems could also affect backup copies.

The service is intended to help customers recover from accidental deletion, data corruption and cyberattacks. It is also designed to reduce operational strain on lean IT teams that often manage security, identity, endpoint and cloud administration with limited staff.

Backup focus

Coro has built its business around consolidating security functions, including endpoint, email, cloud, network, identity and data protection, into one platform. Adding Keepit gives it a more explicit backup and recovery layer, an area that has drawn renewed attention as regulators and insurers increasingly scrutinise cyber resilience alongside prevention.

The integration supports compliance work for organisations operating under frameworks including NIS2, DORA, GDPR and HIPAA. In practice, customers may use the service to maintain protected copies of data and support audit documentation, although the exact compliance outcome will still depend on each organisation's broader controls and processes.

Managed service providers are also a target market. These firms often support multiple customers with small internal IT teams, and vendors have increasingly tried to win their business by reducing the number of systems technicians need to manage. By combining security and recovery tools in one interface, Coro and Keepit are seeking to appeal to service providers that want to simplify day-to-day operations.

According to Coro, its platform already uses shared artificial intelligence tools to resolve more than 95% of threats automatically. The Keepit integration extends the platform beyond detection and response by adding a way to restore data after an incident, reducing the need to move between separate administrative consoles.

Keepit, which focuses on cloud data protection, has positioned itself around vendor-independent storage and the separation of backup data from production environments. That model has become a common selling point in the backup market, particularly for customers concerned that relying on the same cloud stack for both live and backup data may create concentration risk.

Market context

The announcement also points to the continued convergence of security and resilience vendors. Over the past several years, suppliers have tried to close the gap between cyber prevention, incident response and business recovery, especially as customers have sought fewer tools and clearer accountability when disruptions occur.

Coro said Gartner has identified it as an example vendor in the market for workspace cybersecurity platforms, a category focused on integrated protection for worker endpoints, identities, applications and data. Whether that category gains further traction will depend in part on whether customers continue to favour broader platforms over specialist products.

For now, Coro customers in early access can begin testing integrated backup protection within the platform, with wider availability planned later this year.
