Boomi unveils Agentstudio for AI agent lifecycle & integration

Yesterday

Boomi has announced the general availability of Boomi Agentstudio, alongside new embedded artificial intelligence (AI) agents and expanded support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard.

Boomi Agentstudio, which is described as a full lifecycle management platform for AI agents, is now accessible to organisations, providing no-code orchestration, governance, and features such as Agent Step integration with Boomi Process Canvas and central agent registration for Amazon Bedrock.

With this launch, Boomi has introduced several new AI agents, including the Integration Advisor Agent, API Design and Documentation Agents, and the Data Connector Agent.

The company also confirmed the addition of Boomi Data Integration, formerly known as Rivery, to its enterprise platform, extending its data capability offering.

Steve Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Boomi, commented, "The future belongs to organisations that can intelligently connect everything and automate anything — and Boomi is THE platform that makes it happen. With these innovations, we're empowering our customers to move faster, work smarter, and lead in an AI-first world."

Boomi Agentstudio is intended to enable businesses to design, govern, and orchestrate all AI agents within a secure, no-code environment.

The platform combines user-friendly tools with controls designed to support responsible AI agent development. Real-world applications cited include customer support and automated expense report management.

The latest release also broadens integration capabilities to support Amazon Q Business. Boomi is now recognised as an approved Data Processor for all Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers, offering increased functionality for those building AI agents on AWS.

The enhanced governance within Agentstudio provides centralised agent registration for Amazon Bedrock and observability across providers, while the new Agent Step feature allows developers to incorporate registered agents into workflows via the Process Canvas tool.

To date, Boomi reports the deployment of over 33,000 Boomi AI Agents by customers seeking to automate complex tasks and optimise integration processes. The newly released agents are:

The Integration Advisor Agent autonomously reviews integration processes by providing actionable feedback, supporting efficiency and maintainability. The API Design Agent is engineered to rapidly create and modify APIs aligned with business and technical requirements, using autonomous generation of OpenAPI specifications.

The API Documentation Agent aims to accelerate product time-to-market and enable broader adoption by generating documentation directly from API definitions. The Data Connector Agent allows organisations to create data integration connectors for any REST-based resource, removing the need for external solutions.

All these agents are included in the Boomi Enterprise Platform without additional charges and are available for immediate use, which Boomi says enables teams to incorporate AI functionality across multiple business processes.

As part of its wider announcement, Boomi will now provide native support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard facilitating AI agent interaction with the tools and resources required for task execution.

The Boomi Enterprise Platform will integrate MCP across its architecture, treating it as a principal protocol for process execution. The platform will also automatically expose APIs as MCP server endpoints using Boomi API Management. Boomi Agentstudio plans to use MCP access for tools, while an MCP gateway has been introduced for tool aggregation, discovery, and to provide security and governance at the enterprise level.

The integration of Boomi Data Integration, previously known as Rivery, introduces automated data pipelines aimed at accelerating analytics and AI-based products. Features of this addition include managed data connectors, log-based change data capture, an updated user interface, and improved observability. Boomi says this will allow organisations to collect, transform, and use data from any source with increased speed and accuracy.

Matt Aslett, Director of Research at ISG, said, "As enterprises accelerate AI adoption, they require data platforms that bridge silos, streamline data management, and deliver intelligent automation. Boomi's platform approach is well placed for this opportunity — combining integration, automation, API management, and data management with AI-native capabilities to meet the challenges of digitally fragmented enterprises."

Ed Macosky, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Boomi, stated, "Boomi is uniquely positioned at the intersection of AI, enterprise data, and business process automation. As originators of the iPaaS category — and the first integration and automation platform to introduce AI agents with full lifecycle management — Boomi continues to lead the industry forward. With today's announcements, we're setting a new standard for AI-driven automation, empowering organisations to move faster, operate smarter, and unlock the full value of their data."
